Dad

Today is the third anniversary of my dad's passing. Like many people, I have some regrets that aspects of our relationship will never be realized. Yet, God has been gracious to give me good memories. I have true thankfulness for the good things I inherited from Dad:

-music abilities
-love for teaching & learning
-love for history
-love for the prairie

I love you, Dad, and I miss you!

Love,
Your Little Bird

May the Father sustain you as you remember your father and his passing. Only He can refine sorrow, and extract joy from it. May He do so for you.

BTW, we sang "I Bind Unto Myself This Day" today at church ... all nine stanzas ... the tune in Cantus Christi. My nine-year-old beamed as he sang; it is about his favorite.

Hi, Jon! Good to hear from you. I've missed reading your blog lately. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

Thank you for your words of wisdom and kindness about my dad. Since my dad never gave me any indication that he was a believer, his passing was especially difficult for me. It is only the Lord who sustains me and gives me hope that my dad, somehow in his last hours, was snatched from the jaws of the pit of hell by the grace and mercy of our Lord.

I like "I Bind Unto Myself..." too. It's a little tricky reading the stanzas as they skip around, but it's a great hymn.
